How It Works
Web Audio API — Real-Time Volume Analysis
When you allow microphone access, the filter creates a Web Audio API analyser node connected to your mic stream. Every frame, it reads the frequency data and computes an average volume level. That level — smoothed slightly to avoid jitter — drives the intensity of the chosen visual effect in real time.
The Sensitivity slider acts as a gain multiplier on the raw volume. Lower the sensitivity if you’re in a loud environment and the effect is permanently maxed out. Raise it if the effect feels too subtle. The live VU meter at the top of the controls shows the current volume level so you can see exactly how your sound is being read before you hit record.
