How It Works
What Is an RGB Split / Chromatic Aberration Effect?
Red Channel ←
The red channel of every pixel is sampled slightly to the left of its original position.
Green Channel ·
The green channel is sampled at the true position, acting as the anchor of the image.
Blue Channel →
The blue channel is sampled slightly to the right, completing the tri-color split.
The result is a colorful halo around edges — exactly the artifact seen in cheap lenses, old CRT monitors, and corrupted video signals. A motion-difference algorithm then blends moving areas in full color while ghost-burning static zones, producing the signature screen-burn trail when you move.
Controls
Two Sliders — Full Creative Control
Glitch
Controls the RGB channel offset distance. Low values produce a subtle chromatic halo around edges. High values create a strong horizontal color split across the entire frame — a heavy digital distortion look.
0 → max
Media Mix
When a custom image or video background is uploaded, this slider blends it into your webcam feed. At 0% only your camera is visible; at 100% only the uploaded media shows, with the glitch effect applied on top.
0% → 100%
Features
Everything in the Glitch Camera Filter
⚡
WebGL Real-Time Shader
The RGB split runs entirely on your GPU via a WebGL fragment shader. Zero CPU overhead — the effect is applied at full frame rate with no perceptible lag.
🌊
Motion-Reactive Rendering
A pixel-difference algorithm compares each frame to the last. Moving areas update in full, static areas fade into a ghostly blur — naturally creating a motion trail effect.
🎛️
Adjustable Glitch Intensity
The Glitch slider adjusts the RGB channel split offset in real time. Anywhere from a subtle 1px halo to a full-frame color explosion.
🖼️
Custom Background Blend
Upload any image or video and blend it behind your camera feed. Drag and drop is supported. The glitch shader processes the combined result.
🎥
Video Recording
Record with the glitch effect live. Exports as MP4 (H.264 + AAC) on modern browsers. Mic audio and uploaded video audio are mixed into the recording.
📸
Photo Capture (PNG)
Press the download button without recording to capture the current frame — glitch and all — as a full-resolution PNG, lossless.
📐
Aspect Ratio Control
Switch between 16:9, 4:3, 9:16, and 1:1 in one click. The WebGL viewport and canvas resolution update instantly.
🔒
Fully Private
Your webcam stream is processed directly in the browser using WebGL. No video data ever leaves your device. No server, no storage, no account.
Get Started
Apply the Glitch Effect in 3 Steps
1
Allow Camera Access
Click Allow when your browser prompts for camera permission. Your stream is processed locally via WebGL — nothing is transmitted to any server.
2
Adjust Glitch & Background
Use the Glitch slider to set the RGB split intensity. Optionally upload an image or video background (drag & drop supported), then blend it with the Media slider.
3
Record or Capture
Press the record button to start a video with a 3-second countdown, or tap the download icon to instantly save a PNG photo of the current glitched frame.

RGB split — also called chromatic aberration — shifts the red, green, and blue color channels of each frame slightly apart. The result is a glitchy, distorted look associated with damaged VHS tapes, CRT monitors, cyberpunk aesthetics, and digital corruption art. The Glitch slider controls how far apart the channels are pushed.
Yes. WebGL is supported by Safari on iPhone and Chrome on Android. The glitch filter runs on mobile GPU at full frame rate. It supports both front and rear cameras.
No. All rendering happens locally in your browser using WebGL. Your camera stream never leaves your device and is never stored anywhere.
The shader compares each new frame to the previous one pixel by pixel. Where a pixel has moved (changed significantly), it renders the new color. Where it hasn’t moved, it blends the new frame with a ghost of the previous one. This creates a natural phosphor-burn trail — things that move are sharp; still areas fade and blur slightly.
Yes. The Glitch slider adjusts the horizontal offset of the R and B channels in real time. Low values give a subtle 1–2px chromatic halo; high values produce a strong full-frame color split distortion.
Yes. Click the folder icon (or drag and drop a file) to upload an image or video. Use the Media slider to set how strongly it blends with your camera. The glitch shader processes the combined output.
MP4 (H.264 + AAC) on Chrome, Edge, and Safari. WebM (VP9 + Opus) on Firefox. The tool auto-selects the best format supported by your browser at 5 Mbps for high quality output.
